Wednesday September 30th - Adhesion and Capillary Action

We have been looking at the properties of water that are important for life.  Yesterday we focussed on cohesion and how it causes surface tension. Here is another look at cohesion and surface tension.
 Today we looked at Adhesion and capillary action.  Here were today's Daily Questions:
I used the following image to show you the differences in density among solid, liquid and gas water.

We used capillary tubes to show capillary action:

 
This is important in moving water up the roots of plants - Here is a neat time lapse video showing how capillary action brings a plant "back to life"
