A little bit of Thanksgiving fun!!

Today you guys walked in to my hand Turkey's giving thanks for all my classes!

You then had a couple options today.  There was an extra credit assignment available to work on about the myth of tryptophan.  You also had time to work on the into book work to bioenergetics.  Or you could do all of the above AND draw hand turkeys. I guess it doesn't matter HOW old you are.... get the chance to color hand turkeys on construction paper NEVER gets old :)

I then showed you guys the Hoops and Yoyo Thanksgiving card and wished you a nice relaxing Thanksgiving!!

Review for Cell Membrane and Cell Transport Exam

Monday November 18th
Today you got back your daily question quizzes and critical thinking worksheets from last week.  We went over those and discussed some areas that many of you struggled through, particularly on the Analyzing Experiments worksheet.  See my explanation below.

We then went over the daily question quiz and again focused on questions that seemed to be difficult for many of you.

Finally we started to review using the following Jeopardy Game.  I have included links to a couple cell membrane and cell transport review games, I also placed a "test" and "review" on study island that would be beneficial when studying for this exam.

This link is the one we went through

***NOTE:  These are not GREAT questions - many I skipped over but at least it gives you an idea :)

Here are a couple other ones you could try as well.

Active Transport and Cell Signaling Wrap Up

Finally, we watched the following crash course as a wrap up and your critical thinking worksheet is due tomorrow.

Monday, November 11, 2013

passive transport wrap up

we started with the following daily question that acted as a summary of passive transport and an introduction to active transport.

after going through these you worked through an analysis of a passive transport experiment.  This forced you to really think through the processes of both simple diffusion and osmosis.  tomorrow you will be starting into active transport.

For this side i also had you explain
what type of solution each would be considered,
 (hyper, hypo, or isotonic)

Osmsosis an lab wrap up

Since we worked through this lab all week we did not have a daily question quiz today but instead started the class with some daily questions.

Then we took notes on the different types of solutions.

Then you finished up your lab application questions.
